Perception-Aware Cross-Modal Signal Reconstruction: From Audio-Haptic to Visual
IEEE transactions on multimedia, 2023Cross-modal communications, devoting to collaboratively delivering and processing audio, visual, and haptic signals, have gradually become the supporting technology for the emerging multi-modal services.

The traditional educational process of blind people is a complex practice that relies on the haptic perception (tactile perception) of physical models. However, physical models may be costly, inaccessible or may require a large storage space. To overcome

Human-Inspired Haptic Perception and Control in Robot-Assisted Milling Surgery
IEEE Transactions on Haptics, 2020Bone milling is one of the most widely used and high-risk procedures in various types of surgeries, and it is important to be noted that the experienced surgeon can perform such an operation safely.

Haptic Perception of Spatial Relations
Perception, 1999There are some indications that haptic space like visual space is not Euclidean (eg Blumenfeld, 1937 Acta Psychologica2 125–174). In a series of experiments, we investigated the haptic perception of spatial relations in a systematic way. We restricted ourselves to a horizontal plane at waist height.

For people with motion impairments, access to and independent control of a computer can be essential. Symptoms such as tremor and spasm, however, can make the typical keyboard and mouse arrangement for computer interaction difficult or even impossible to use. This paper describes three approaches to improving computer input effectivness for people with

Haptic Perception and Its Relation to Action.
Annual Review of PsychologyHaptic perception uses signals from touch receptors to detect, locate, and mentally represent objects and surfaces. Research from behavioral science, neuroscience, and computational modeling advances understanding of these essential functions.

Haptic Perception of Viscosity
2010Viscosity is a liquid's resistance against flow. Using a discrimination experiment, the human ability to distinguish between different viscosities was measured over the range of 200-20,000 mPa.s. Eight blindfolded subjects stirred pairs of different silicone oils using a wooden spatula and had to indicate the "thicker" of the two.

Haptic perception is altered in children with developmental coordination disorder
Neuropsychologia, 2019Developmental coordination disorder (DCD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting the motor system, but it may also present with signs of somatosensory dysfunction. This study examined whether haptic perception, which relies on somatosensory afferents,
