European local authorities’ financial resilience in the face of austerity: a comparison across Austria, Italy and England [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
European local authorities have been particularly stricken by the current context of decline and cutback management, and represent an ideal place where to study how governments respond to shocks affecting their financial conditions and management.

Is Acropora Palmata recovering? A case study in Los Roques National Park, Venezuela [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Eight years ago (2007), the distribution and status of Acropora palmata was quantified throughout Los Roques archipelago in Venezuela. The aim was to produce a baseline study for this species which combined population genetics with demographic data.

A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

Theoretical Substantiation of Risk Assessment Directions in the Development of Fields with Hard-to-Recover Hydrocarbon Reserves

open access: yesResources
This article presents a methodology for risk assessment and management in the development of hard-to-recover hydrocarbon reserves. The proposed methodology integrates Monte Carlo simulation and fuzzy logic methods, which allows for the consideration of ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Experimental Studies to Predict the Risks of Asphaltene Precipitation During the Extraction of Hard-To-Recover Oil Reserves

open access: yesGeoresursy
Asphaltene flocculation and precipitation are the cause of a number of complications in oil production, including a decrease in the filtration-capacitive properties of the reservoir and bottomhole zone, the formation of highly viscous emulsions, and the ...

Implementations of star evaluation management model in complex high water-cut gas field during its integrated development of geological engineering

open access: yesYouqicang pingjia yu kaifa, 2021
Poor reserve quality, high water-cut and high investment cost have become the bottleneck of developing Dongsheng Gas Field located in Ordos Basin. In this way, the star evaluation management model is put forward to enhance its production performance.

When Capital Inflows Come to a Sudden Stop: Consequences and Policy Options [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we present evidence that capital account reversals have become more severe for emerging markets. Because policy options are limited in the midst of a capital market crisis and because so many countries have already had crises recently, we ...

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous
