Development and Validation of a Next‐Generation Mechanistic Model of the Electric Arc Furnace

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study presents a next‐generation mechanistic model of the electric arc furnace (EAF). It describes equations for all crucial processes appearing during the steel‐recycling process in an EAF, i.e., thermal, mass, and chemical. The model was parameterized and validated using industrial EAF data.

Insights Into Paint‐Bake Toughening of Resistance Spot Welds of a 2.0 GPa Warm‐Stamped Medium‐Mn Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Paint baking of resistance spot welded joints of 2.0 GPa warm‐stamped medium‐Mn steel activates low‐temperature tempering, forming fine cementite in the fusion zone and enhancing toughness. Crack propagation resistance increases, shifting the failure mode from partial interfacial to complete pullout, with peak load and energy absorption rising ...

Crash Behavior of DP800–DP1000 Advanced High‐Strength Steel’s Dissimilar Resistance Spot Welded Joints Under Quasi‐static and High Strain Rates

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The high‐strain‐rate behavior of resistance spot‐welded DP800–DP1000 joints is investigated. Results show that microstructural gradients across BM–HAZ–FZ govern hardness, strain rate sensitivity, and failure modes. While strength increases with strain rate, energy absorption is controlled by ductility, with DP800–DP800 joints showing superior ...

Assessment and control of the mine tremor disaster induced by the energy accumulation and dispersion of thick-hard roofs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology
In order to solve the problem that current theory models cannot accurately describe thick-hard roof (THR) elastic energy and assess the mine tremor disasters, a theoretical method, a Timoshenko beam theory on Winkler foundation was adopted to establish ...

Environmental Impact of Silicic Magmatism in Large Igneous Province Events

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 133-151., 2021

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Research on rock burst generation mechanism and three-level collaborative control technology of multi-key strata narrow coal pillar

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
Taking the 11–3106 working face of Menkeqing Coal Mine as the research background, a fracture model of the structure covered by thick and hard overburden at the 11–3106 working face was established.

Optimal structural design method for reinforced concrete column in buildings with high floor heights using a genetic algorithm

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Globally, there is a growing trend toward taller, larger, and more structurally diverse buildings that require expansive interior spaces. Rapid technological advancements have surged the demand for data centers, while the expansion of e‐commerce has increased logistics volumes, driving the need for large‐scale warehouses.

Practice of deep hole blasting and rapid charging technology for composite thick and hard roof

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
In order to control the dynamic pressure behavior of the working face under the condition of composite thick and hard roof, taking a mine in Ordos as an example, through theoretical analysis, it is clarified that the instability of small coal pillar roadway with thick and hard roof is mainly divided into deformation instability and impact instability ...

Mechanism and control of deformation in mining roadways with hard roofs in extra-thick coal seams

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials
Introduction The mining roadways for the exceptionally thick coal seams 3-5 at Tashan Colliery in the Datong Mining District faced the challenge of significant and uncontrollable surrounding rock deformation under hard roof strata conditions, posing a serious threat to safe and efficient operations.
