Hard Carbon Coatings: The Way Forward [PDF]

open access: yesMRS Bulletin, 1997
Since the first reports by Aisenberg and Chabot in 1971 indicating the possibility of producing hard amorphous (so-called diamondlike) carbon (DLC) films, many experimental and theoretical research results have been published outlining the properties and film growth mechanisms of these films deposited by a variety of techniques.

Superelastic Hard Carbon Nanofiber Aerogels

Advanced Materials, 2019
AbstractSuperelastic carbon aerogels have been widely explored by graphitic carbons and soft carbons. These soft aerogels usually have delicate microstructures with good fatigue resistance but ultralow strength. Hard carbon aerogels show great advantages in mechanical strength and structural stability due to the sp3‐C‐induced turbostratic “house‐of ...

Hard–Soft Carbon Composite Anodes with Synergistic Sodium Storage Performance [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, 2019
A series of hard–soft carbon composite materials is produced from biomass and oil waste and applied as low-cost anodes for sodium-ion batteries to study the fundamentals behind the dependence of Na storage on their structural features.

Raman spectra of hard carbon films and hard carbon films containing secondary elements

Carbon, 1991
Raman spectroscopy has been used to investigate the structure and bonding in a number of carbon films prepared by plasma physical vapour deposition and chemical vapour deposition. Several secondary elements have been introduced into the structure of the coatings to observe their influence on the coating-substrate assembly.
