Transport Properties of Hard Carbons
ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2023Sodium-ion batteries (SIB) have been heavily researched, as a potential replacement for Lithium ion batteries (LIB) as their components are more readily obtainable, lower cost and they have similar working principles to LIB. Hard Carbon (HC) is the current state-of-the-art anode for SIB material due to its relatively low cost, overall performance ...

Solid Fuel Chemistry, 2009
Data on the hardness of carbon materials obtained via conventional technologies are summarized. The data are compared with the structure characteristics and the properties of the carbon materials. Correlations of the structural characteristics and the properties of the carbon materials with their hardness have been revealed.

Proton Bombardment of Hard Carbon
Fullerenes, Nanotubes and Carbon Nanostructures, 2006Abstract Proton irradiation effects on magnetic properties of hard carbon were investigated by magnetic force microscopy. Two different, oxygen‐free and oxygen‐rich, graphite‐like hard carbon targets were prepared by high pressure‐high temperature treatment of C60 fullerene. Formation of magnetic domains was observed only in the oxygen‐free targets.

Hard Rubber. Its Carbon and Hydrogen Content
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1936Abstract IN THE course of a study of vulcanization it became necessary to compare the ratios of carbon, hydrogen, and sulfur in hard rubber. A search of the literature revealed no analyses for carbon and hydrogen, although many analyses for sulfur in hard rubber have been recorded.

Isotopic exchange in hard amorphous carbonized layers
Journal of Applied Physics, 1990Hard amorphous films of a-C:H and a-C:D were deposited by a rf glow discharge in either CH4 or CD4 . By ion bombardment with protons and deuterons, the H/D exchange process was studied as function of the bombardment fluence by means of depth profile measurements.

Carbon in hard magnetic alloys
Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 19771. With increasing carbon concentrations in Alnico alloys the effective number of conduction electrons increases, which increases the thermal stability of γ phase. A single-phase structure cannot be obtained with over 0.05% C. 2. The precipitation of strongly magnetic phase from the supercooled solid solution occurs at 620–880°.

Hard carbon and composite metal/hard carbon films prepared by a dc unbalanced planar magnetron
Vacuum, 1990Abstract A dc planar magnetron, of an unbalanced type, has been used for the sputtering of graphite in both argon and a mixture of argon/propane. Hard carbon films were prepared, with some polymeric inclusions in the latter case, as witnessed from the measurement of the optical gap and ir spectra.
