Defective Hard Carbon Anode for Na-Ion Batteries [PDF]
Hard carbon as an anode is critical for the near-future commercialization of Na-ion batteries. However, where Na ions are located at different states of charge with respect to the local structures of hard carbon remains a topic that is under debate ...

Research progress on biomass-based hard-carbon anode materials for sodium storage
Sodium-ion batteries are expected to gradually replace lithium-ion batteries in large-scale energy storage and two-wheeled electric vehicles because of their excellent low-temperature performance, cost advantages, and high safety.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Enhanced storage performance of a low-cost hard carbon derived from biomass
Hard Carbon is the most widely used negative electrode material for sodium-ion batteries today. Achieving high storage capacity and increasing the plateau capacity, as opposed to the sloping profile, are crucial for enhancing energy density of the full ...

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

The mycobacterial CIII‐CIV respiratory supercomplex is an obligate assembly, encompassing several subunits of unknown functions. We have characterized the intracellular subunit AscF, and show that it is unlikely to be a sensor for metals or nucleotides, but is required for growth on nonfermentable energy sources, and likely works as an adapter for ...
