Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Multiphysics Modeling of Volcanic Unrest at Mt. Ruapehu (New Zealand)

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2022
Pre‐eruptive signals at the crater lake‐bearing Mt. Ruapehu (New Zealand) are either absent or hard to identify. Here, we report on geophysical anomalies arising from hydrothermal unrest (HTU) and magmatic unrest (MU) using multiphysics numerical ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

The study of thermal processes during grinding knives from hard-to-cut steels

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений. Поволжский регион:Технические науки, 2023
Background. In modern mechanical engineering, knives made of hard-to-cut steels are widely used, the main advantage of which is increased heat resistance and wear resistance. The knives are subject to high demands on the geometric accuracy of surfaces

Rainfall runoff features of permeable sidewalk pavement

open access: yesJournal of Water and Climate Change, 2021
In urban areas, the buildings and pavements make it hard for rainwater to infiltrate into the ground. The hardened underlaying sub-crust has increased the total rainfall runoff, pushing up the peak flood flow.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Research on the Grinding Performance of an Electroplated Coarse-Grained Diamond Grinding Wheel by Dressing

open access: yesMachines
The coarse-grained electroplated diamond grinding wheels is increasingly favored in precision grinding of hard and brittle materials owing to its high material removal efficiency, high wear resistance and steady surface contour accuracy.

Prediction of mining-induced seismicity and damage assessment of induced surface buildings in thick and hard key stratum working face: a case study of Liuhuanggou coal mine in China

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
Thick and hard key stratum working faces are characterized by frequent mine tremors and significant ground tremors during mining which seriously threaten the safety production of the mine.

Characterisation of the relationship between surface texture and surface integrity of superalloy components machined by grinding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The surface texture of a machined component is influenced largely by the processing parameters used during machining and hence, there is a relationship between both the formation of the surface texture and surface integrity of the machined component.

Non-Gaussian statistics of electrostatic fluctuations of hydration shells

open access: yes, 2011
We report the statistics of electric field fluctuations produced by SPC/E water inside a Kihara solute given as a hard-sphere core with a Lennard-Jones layer at its surface.
