Power counting and modes in SCET
We present a formulation of soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) in the two-jet sector as a theory of decoupled sectors of QCD coupled to Wilson lines.

Self-consistent determination of hard modes in hot QCD [PDF]
We determine self-consistently the hard-quark and hard-gluon modes in hot QCD. The damping-rate part in resummed hard-quark or hard-gluon propagators, rather than the thermal-mass part, plays the dominant role.

The nature of X-ray spectral variability in Seyfert Galaxies
We use a model-independent technique to investigate the nature of the 2-15 keV X-ray spectral variability in four Seyfert galaxies and distinguish between spectral pivoting and the two-component model for spectral variability.

Flexible High Speed Codec (FHSC) [PDF]
The ongoing NASA/Harris Flexible High Speed Codec (FHSC) program is described. The program objectives are to design and build an encoder decoder that allows operation in either burst or continuous modes at data rates of up to 300 megabits per second. The

Macroscopic superposition states of ultracold bosons in a double-well potential
We present a thorough description of the physical regimes for ultracold bosons in double wells, with special attention paid to macroscopic superpositions (MSs).

Sustainable bioplastics manufacturing from renewable sources
Bioplastics are manufactured by using polymers from different bio‐based sources. These novel materials not only offer biodegradability but also possess various functional properties that make them suitable for diverse applications. Recent developments in the preparation of bioplastics are reported, highlighting the distinct properties of each type of ...

Solution of Bin Packing Instances in Falkenauer T Class: Not So Hard
In this work, the Bin Packing combinatorial optimization problem is studied from the practical side. The focus is on the Falkenauer T benchmark class, which is a collection of 80 problem instances that are considered hard to handle algorithmically ...

Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (
