Human‐in‐the‐Loop Swarms: A Bionic Swarm Approach to Real‐World Soil Mapping
This article introduces the “Bionic Swarm,” a novel system that lowers the barriers to real‐world swarm validation by abstracting difficult hardware tasks to app‐guided human agents. We demonstrate the system's utility through the experimental validation of a geotechnical soil‐mapping swarm algorithm and show superior performance to baseline approaches

Double Helix Structure for Stable Flexural Actuation in Soft Robotics
This work introduces a double‐helical architecture for soft robotic actuators that enhances twisting resistance, increases output force, and minimizes undesired deformation. Actuators driven by shape‐memory alloy wires exhibit a roughly fivefold higher torsional/flexural stiffness ratio and 50% greater force output.

Rock Breaking Mechanism and Experimental Study of Axe-shaped PDC Cutter
Axe-shaped PDC cutter has more obvious rock breaking advantage than conventional PDC cutter. In order to analyze the rock breaking mechanism of the axe-shaped PDC cutter, the finite element simulation and test were used to conduct comparison and force ...

Comparative Analysis of Model‐Agnostic Explanation Methods in Materials Science
To address the critical lack of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) benchmarks in materials science, we present a quantitative and qualitative analysis of six XAI methods applied to molecular fingerprints. Our results reveal significant discrepancies in feature importance rankings, demonstrating that the chosen explanation approach introduces ...

Lost in aggregation? On the importance of local food price data for food poverty estimates
Abstract This paper explores within‐country variations in food price dynamics and food poverty estimates by employing local market price data and national consumer price index (CPI) data. Our results show that national CPI data may be useful for approximating national trends but they fail to detect and identify spatial variations in local trends, which
