Designing Thermally Compatible Template‐Coating Pairs Toward Dimensionally Stable 3D Porous Carbons with Tunable Density

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
3D porous carbons with tunable density are crucial for energy storage, separations, and load‐bearing applications; however, their fabrication is often constrained by shrinkage during pyrolysis. This study optimizes and demonstrates the versatility of a template–coating pair strategy, producing materials that largely retain their shape and hierarchical ...

Using size distributions for determining growth mechanisms of grain boundary precipitates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the past various single parameters such as the mean, mode or maximum of the precipitate size distribution have been used in experiments to determine growth mechanisms.

Optimizing hardenability of high chromium white cast iron [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The formulas proposed by J. Dodd and J. L. Parks for calculating the hardenability of high-Cr white cast iron under continuous cooling condition was recommended. For broader application, some supplements were made to the formula.

From Waste to Value: Conversion of Calcium Sulfate to Vaterite via Carbon Capture and Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a new concept for carbon management that relies on the carbonation of industrial gypsum waste and yields phase‐pure vaterite at ambient conditions without any additives. The obtained vaterite is further shown to be a reactive material that develops compressive strength in aqueous suspensions like conventional cements.
