MODERN METHODS OF GEAR MILLING OF HARDENED LARGE-MODULE GEARS
The latest developments of modern methods of high-speed gear milling of large-module cylindrical gears, both for preliminary grinding of teeth and for final blade processing of gears, are considered. For high-speed blade gear processing, promising designs of worm carbide cutters have been developed, manufactured and implemented.

Influence of Hardenability on Gear Distortions Caused by Hardening
The kinds of materials have different effects on gear distortions caused by hardening, even if heat-treatments of the raw material and gear are the same. In this experiment, the test gears which were made of steel materials containing different amounts of some chemical compositions in two kinds of steel were case-hardened.

Effects of Gear-Side Case-Hardening on Residual Stress of Case-Hardened Gears.
This paper presents a study on effects of gear-side case-hardening on residual stresses of case-hardened gears. The carbon content of each element of the FEM models due to carburizing was computed on the basis of the relation between carburizing condition and carbon content distribution. A heat conduction analysis and an elastic-plastic stress analysis

Distortions and Residual Stresses of Gears Caused by Hardening : 4th Report, Case-Hardening of Gears
Distortions of case-hardened gears were calculated using the method introduced by the authors, and the results were compared with experimental ones. The results obtained in this paper are summarized as follows. (1) For case-hardening, gear distortions can be calculated tolerably well from the estimation of quenched structure. (2) In this investigation,

Tooth flank fracture in spiral bevel gears - Multiaxial fatigue and material properties
Due to the improvements made in the prediction and prevention of surfaceinitiated gear failure modes like pitting, tooth root breakage, scuffing and micropitting, a transition from surface to subsurface-initiated failures is occurring on spiral bevel ...

Study on the Root Crack Propagation Characteristics and Residual Life of Case-hardened Gears
In order to study the influence of tooth root cracks on the fatigue life of case-hardened gears, taking an involute case-hardened gear as the research object, the mechanism of the tooth root fatigue crack growth is analyzed based on the fracture ...

Surface finishing method for tooth flank of heat-treated surface-hardened small gears using a gear-shaped tool composed of alumina-fiber-reinforced plastic [PDF]
High-accuracy gears are necessary to ensure the strength and silence of compact geared motors. Heat-treated surface-hardened small gears are employed in the reducer of a compact geared motor.
