The various aspects of genetic and epigenetic toxicology: testing methods and clinical applications
Genotoxicity refers to the ability of harmful substances to damage genetic information in cells. Being exposed to chemical and biological agents can result in genomic instabilities and/or epigenetic alterations, which translate into a variety of diseases,

Mesostigmata as Biological Control Agents, with Emphasis on Rhodacaroidea and Parasitoidea [PDF]
The Mesostigmata is a large mite order corresponding to about 20 % of all known mite species. These are found in different habitats, but are most abundant and diverse in the soil.

[Harmful impact of biological agents released at metalworking].
In metalworking, the temperature of the cutting edge can reach 700 degrees C, which can adversely affect either the surface of the metal processed or the cutting edge itself. To reduce the heat and friction, the metalworking fluids and coolants are used.

Plant pathogens as biocontrol agents of Cirsium arvense : an overestimated approach? [PDF]
Cirsium arvense is one of the worst weeds in agriculture. As herbicides are not very effective and not accepted by organic farming and special habitats, possible biocontrol agents have been investigated since many decades.

THE BIOLOGICAL EFFECTIVENESS OF VARIOUS PREPARATIONS AGAINST SEED INFECTION OF CABBAGE BLACK ROT
Black rot (pathogen – Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris) is one of the most harmful diseases of brassicas. Seedlings growing in trays in greenhouse can meet rapid spreading of the pathogen and heavy yield loss even at very low seed infection level ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.
