New records of Laboulbeniales (Fungi, Ascomycota) for The Netherlands
Laboulbeniales are obligate ectoparasitic ascomycetes occurring on Arthropoda, mostly insects. Since the 1950s almost no research on Laboulbeniales has been done in The Netherlands.

Bringing the Laboulbeniales to the 21st century: Enhanced techniques for extraction and PCR amplification of DNA from minute ectoparasitic fungi [PDF]
One of the most peculiar groups of Ascomycota are the Laboulbeniales. These fungi are characterized by an ectoparasitic life style on arthropods, determinate growth, lack of an asexual stage, high species richness, and intractability to culture.

Spiroplasma infection in Harmonia axyridis - Diversity and multiple infection
The heritable endosymbiotic bacterium Spiroplasma is found in the harlequin ladybird Harmonia axyridis. The proportion of beetles infected with Spiroplasma in different native H. axyridis populations varies from 2% to 49%. We investigated the polymorphism of Spiroplasma strains in samples from individual beetles from Kyoto, Vladivostok, Troitsa Bay ...

The invasion history, distribution and colour pattern forms of the harlequin ladybird beetle Harmonia axyridis (Pall.) (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae) in Slovakia, Central Europe [PDF]
The harlequin ladybird beetle Harmonia axyridis (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae) has invaded and established in Slovakia. Following unintentional introduction in 2008, the spread of the alien coccinellid was very fast.

Maintenance of polymorphism in the orb weaving spider species Agalenatea redii (Araneae, Araneidae) [PDF]
The maintenance of polymorphism within populations may be the consequence of several elements of species life history such as use of space, activity rhythms, predation, parasitism and reproduction.

Comparative study of architecture and geometry of the date palm male and female inflorescences [PDF]
The date palm, Phoenix dactylifera L. (Arecaceae), is a subtropical palm widely cultivated for numerous uses and ecosystematic services. The date palm is a dioecious species, which shows a marked dimorphism in inflorescence structure.
