Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Attention-Based Deep Neural Network for High-Dimensional Microwave Modeling of Non-Reciprocal Bandpass Filters

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper presents attention-based deep neural networks for high-dimensional microwave modeling to predict behavior of spatio-temporal modulated (STM) non-reciprocal bandpass filters (NR-BPFs).

Comparative assessment of the harmonic balance Navier Stokes technology for horizontal and vertical axis wind turbine aerodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Several important wind turbine unsteady flow regimes, such as those associated with the yawed wind condition of horizontal axis machines, and most operating conditions of all vertical axis machines, are predominantly periodic.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Global residue harmonic balance method for strongly nonlinear oscillator with cubic and harmonic restoring force

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 2022
This paper focuses on the numerical investigation of a strongly nonlinear oscillator with cubic and harmonic restoring force. We transform this oscillator as a free damped cubic-quintic Duffing oscillator equation by Taylor approximation.

Collective oscillation period of inter-coupled biological negative cyclic feedback oscillators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A number of biological rhythms originate from networks comprised of multiple cellular oscillators. But analytical results are still lacking on the collective oscillation period of inter-coupled gene regulatory oscillators, which, as has been reported ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Vibrational Amplitude Frequency Characteristics Analysis of a Controlled Nonlinear Meso-Scale Beam

open access: yesActuators, 2021
Vibration response and amplitude frequency characteristics of a controlled nonlinear meso-scale beam under periodic loading are studied. A method including a general analytical expression for harmonic balance solution to periodic vibration and an updated

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.
