Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Active filter parameter tuning method for harmonic voltage mitigation in wind power plants [PDF]

open access: yes
It is challenging to determine the active filter control factors in wind power plants (WPP) to obtain effective harmonic voltage mitigation and avoid over-modulation or system instability problems caused by overlarge feedforward or feedback gains.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

A 9-level three-phase multilevel converter with harmonic mitigation and integrated battery balancing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, a 9 level three-phase multilevel converter with a harmonic mitigation control method and an integrated battery balancing algorithm for automotive purpose is proposed. Each level of the converter is composed by a buck-boost converter and an

Finite Control Set–Model Predictive Control with Modulation to Mitigate Harmonic Component in Output Current for a Grid-Connected Inverter under Distorted Grid Conditions

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
This paper presents an improved current control strategy for a three-phase grid-connected inverter under distorted grid conditions. In terms of performance, it is important for a grid-connected inverter to maintain the harmonic contents of inverter ...

Harmonic Mitigation Methods in Large Offshore Wind Power Plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Various sources of harmonic problems in large wind power plants (WPPs) and optimized harmonic mitigation methods are presented in this paper. The harmonic problems such as sources of harmonic emission and amplification as well as harmonic stability are ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Harmonic Mitigation in Electric Railway Systems Using Improved Model Predictive Control

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
An electric multiple unit (EMU) high-speed train is the dynamic load that degrades the power quality in an electric railway system. Therefore, a power quality improvement system using an active power filter (APF) must be considered.
