Sparse Bayesian Harmonic State Estimation

2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications, Control, and Computing Technologies for Smart Grids (SmartGridComm), 2018
This paper presents a novel iterative method for harmonic state estimation based on the sparse Bayesian learning framework. The proposed method can locate harmonic sources and estimate the distribution of harmonic voltages using fewer harmonic meters than buses, despite the strong correlation between the columns of the system matrix.

Implementation of harmonic state estimation

8th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX227), 2002
Harmonic state estimation (HSE) of power systems is a very efficient and economic tool to provide system-wide solutions for monitoring and control of harmonic pollution in the power systems. In this paper, the fundamental methodology in software implementation of HSE is introduced, including the software development environment, the object-oriented ...

An adaptive Kalman filter for dynamic harmonic state estimation and harmonic injection tracking

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2005
Knowledge of the process noise covariance matrix Q is essential for the application of Kalman filtering. However, it is usually a difficult task to obtain an explicit expression of Q for large time varying systems. This paper looks at an adaptive Kalman filter method for dynamic harmonic state estimation and harmonic injection tracking.

Power system harmonic state estimation

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1994
A power system state estimation based on (a) multiphase model, (b) voltage and current waveform measurements, (c) synchronized measurements and (d) multifrequency model (i.e. the approach accounts for waveform distortion or harmonics) is formulated.

Harmonic state estimation through optimal monitoring systems

IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, 2013
The present paper describes a methodology based on Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) that defines the configuration required for a monitoring system, in order to monitor voltage and current state variables from a power network. The methodology defines not only the sites where the meters should be installed, but also how their transducers (PTs and CTs ...

Sub-harmonic state estimation in power systems

2000 IEEE Power Engineering Society Winter Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37077), 2002
This paper presents an approach for system-wide sub-harmonic estimation using state estimation (SE) algorithm together with the wavelet-transform (WT)-based algorithm. The WT-based algorithm is used to identify sub-harmonics in the measured power system waveforms.

On Harmonic State Estimation of Power System With Uncertain Network Parameters

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2013
This paper addresses the problem of harmonic state estimation (HSE) of a power system whose network parameters are known to be within certain tolerance bounds. The harmonic voltage and current phasors at harmonics of interest are measured by using adequate numbers of phasor measurement units.

An Approach to Harmonic State Estimation of Power System ()

open access: yesJournal of Electromagnetic Analysis and Applications, 2009
This paper presents the harmonic state estimation (HSE) based on the Total Least Squares (TLS) through comprehensively considering the harmonic network parameter error and measurement system error. The proposed approach is tested on the IEEE 14–bus harmonic testing system. The satisfied results are obtained.

Modified symbolic observability for harmonic state estimation

IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 2000
Observability analysis (OA) is an important aid to harmonic state estimation (HSE). A two-phase symbolic observability method is described that provides selected observability with minimal monitoring requirements. The combined OA-HSE algorithm, as well as correctly identifying the levels of waveform distortion, gives additional information such as ...

Continuous harmonic state estimation of power systems

IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1996
The paper presents a system-wide continuous harmonic state estimator of three-phase asymmetric power systems, with development of its reduced mathematical models and algorithm, as well as its application to a New Zealand test system. The complete harmonic information throughout the power system, including location and even type of the harmonic source ...
