Using Parallel Active Power Filter Based on Voltage Detection on a Radial Distribution Feeder with the Aim of Reducing the Harmonic Propagation and Whack-a-Mole Phenomena [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Procedures in Electrical Technology, 2012
In order to damping of harmonic propagation phenomenon, active power filters are installed on distribution networks. Active power filter installed on buses may cause harmonic oscillation phenomenon and whack-a-mole. In this paper, a parallel active power

Higher harmonics of ac voltage response in narrow strips of YBa2Cu3O7 thin films: Evidence for strong thermal fluctuations

open access: yes, 2005
We report on measurements of higher harmonics of the ac voltage response in strips of YBa2Cu3O7 thin films as a function of temperature, frequency and ac current amplitude.

Interplay of Peltier and Seebeck effects in nanoscale nonlocal spin valves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We have experimentally studied the role of thermoelectric effects in nanoscale nonlocal spin valve devices. A finite element thermoelectric model is developed to calculate the generated Seebeck voltages due to Peltier and Joule heating in the devices. By

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Compensation of Distribution System Voltage using DVR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is a power-electronic controller that can protect sensitive loads from disturbances in the supply system. In this paper, it is demonstrated that this device can tightly regulate the voltage at the load terminal against ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Voltage Harmonics Measuring Issues in Medium Voltage Systems

open access: yes, 2011
Voltage harmonic distortion level is one of the significant parameters of power quality in power system. Numerous problems related to voltage and current harmonic effects for contemporary power systems are commonly observed nowadays. Levels and spectral content of voltage distortions injected into electric power grids are tending to increase despite ...

Harmonic voltage phasor reconstruction and harmonic state estimation based on the measurement data of a capacitive voltage transformer

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications
Harmonic state estimation, which highly depends on accurate synchronised phasors, is a crucial basis for the location, traceability, and governance of harmonics in power systems.

A Composite Strategy for Harmonic Compensation in Standalone Inverter Based on Linear Active Disturbance Rejection Control

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
This paper proposes a harmonic compensation control with disturbance rejection function for a standalone inverter. Due to the LC type three-phase three-leg inverter is connected to nonlinear loads, low-order harmonic components appears in the inverter ...
