Tissue Engineered Human Elastic Cartilage From Primary Auricular Chondrocytes for Ear Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Despite over three decades of research, no tissue‐engineered solution for auricular reconstruction in microtia patients has reached clinical translation. The key challenge lies in generating functional elastic cartilage ex vivo. Here, we integrate synergistic cell‐biomaterial strategies to engineer auricular grafts with mechanical and histological ...

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

DECREASING TORQUE RIPPLE OF A SLOTLESS PERMANENT MAGNET TORQUE MOTOR USING A DOUBLE-LAYER WINDING

open access: yesТехнічна електродинаміка
The torque of a magnetoelectric torque motor with surface-mounted permanent magnets on the rotor was studied. The sinusoidal current supply mode is considered. The torque was calculated according to the static model of the magnetic field.

Engineering Strategies for Stable and Long‐Life Alkaline Zinc‐Based Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Alkaline zinc‐based flow batteries face persistent challenges from unstable zinc deposition, including dendrite growth, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution, which severely limit cycling stability. Current research addresses these issues through coordinated electrode structuring, electrolyte regulation, and membrane design to control zinc ...

Asymmetrically Chorded Multi-Layer Winding and Slot Design for Suppressing Space Harmonic Effects in Induction Motors

open access: yesIEEE Access
In previous studies, the first method to eliminate unwanted space harmonic effects in asynchronous motors is chording. However, it is possible to make winding changes in a way that can target a single harmonic within chording and only covers a certain ...

Symmetrization and extension of planar bi-Lipschitz maps

open access: yes, 2017
We show that every centrally symmetric bi-Lipschitz embedding of the circle into the plane can be extended to a global bi-Lipschitz map of the plane with linear bounds on the distortion.

Harmonic aspects of wind-power installations

open access: yes, 2013
With increasing amounts of wind power connected, the power system is impacted in a number of ways. In this paper, the emphasis has been on one of those impacts: the harmonic emission from wind-power installations. The harmonic emission of individual wind turbines as well as from a wind park has been studied.

Harmonic analysis of a wind energy conversion system with small-scale wind turbine

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Applications and Technologies, 2018
Small-scale wind turbines, which have nominal power capacity less than 50 kW, are generally used in residential and agricultural applications. These turbines are simple-constructed structures, so they are not fully equipped with power quality controllers as bigger ones. Therefore, wind speed and direction affect output voltage and thus battery charging

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.
