Imitation of location choices for rare foreign ventures: Tax‐motivated relocations of headquarters
Abstract Research Summary Peer firms tend to imitate each other's location choices for foreign subsidiaries. We examine whether they also engage in location choice imitation when undertaking rare, high‐stakes foreign ventures in the form of tax‐motivated relocations of headquarters.

On Degrees in the Hasse Diagram of the Strong Bruhat Order
For a permutation $π$ in the symmetric group $S_n$ let the {\it total degree} be its valency in the Hasse diagram of the strong Bruhat order on $S_n$, and let the {\it down degree} be the number of permutations which are covered by $π$ in the strong Bruhat order.

An evaluation method of open-pit slope stability based on Poset theory
To achieve an objective and reasonable judgment on slope stability, the partially ordered set (Poset) theory is applied to the slope stability evaluation against the engineering background of an open pit slope.

Evaluating Allocations of Opportunities
ABSTRACT This paper provides a robust criterion for comparing lists of probability distributions—interpreted as allocations of opportunities—faced by different social groups. We axiomatically argue in favor of comparing those lists of probability distributions on the basis of a uniform—among groups—valuation of their expected utility.

Hasse diagrams and orbit class spaces
This paper gives a rather general dynamical realization property for finite Hasse diagrams. Given a \(G\)-action by homeomorphisms of a topological space \(X\), the orbit class space of the action is the space of equivalence classes for the relation \(x\sim y\) if \(\overline{Gx}=\overline{Gy}\).

ABSTRACT Aim Using correlative species distribution models (SDMs) to predict species' range shifts may have limited predictive power when extrapolating into climatic conditions outside those used to train the models. The inclusion of physiological responses to add mechanistic knowledge can increase the reliability of predictions, but it is seldom ...

Poor code locality in virtual memory systems significantly contributes to page faults, leading to degraded system performance. Although many solutions aim to minimize page faults, most rely on clustering techniques that do not quantify the approximation ...

Identifying the dominant drivers of grassland degradation in Inner Mongolia, China
Grassland degradation (GD) is a complex, multi-factorial, and multi-dimensional process. Identifying its drivers requires a multi-level approach that integrates dynamic changes, synergistic interactions, and spatial heterogeneity of various factors ...

Preference in Strategies of Hiatus Resolutions: An Optimality Theoretic Account of Clitics in Kalhori Kurdish [PDF]
Vowel hiatus as one of the intolerable phenomena in most world languages is caused after morphological processes like affixation and cliticization. Each language tries to resolve this situation using the resolutions at hand.
