Chaotic instability in the BFSS matrix model

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
Chaotic scattering is a manifestation of transient chaos realized by the scattering with non-integrable potential. When the initial position is taken in the potential, a particle initially exhibits chaotic motion, but escapes outside after a certain ...

Quantum thermodynamics of an M2-M5 brane system

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We will investigate a system of M2-M5 branes as a black M2-M5 bound state. The behavior of this system will be investigated at short distances. At such scales, we will have to incorporate quantum gravitational corrections to the supergravity solutions ...

3d N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 2 brane webs and quiver matrices

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We discuss 3d brane webs and effective Chern-Simons levels for 3d N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 2 gauge theories. We find that turning on real masses for chiral multiplets leads to various equivalent brane webs that are related by flipping positions of D5-branes.

The Cat’s Cradle: deforming the higher rank E 1 and E ˜ 1 $$ {\tilde{E}}_1 $$ theories

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We use 5-brane webs to study the two-dimensional space of supersymmetric mass deformations of higher rank generalizations of the 5d E 1 and E ˜ 1 $$ {\tilde{E}}_1 $$ theories.

Nonlinear electrodynamics without birefringence

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
All solutions of the no-birefringence conditions for nonlinear electrodynamics are found. In addition to the known Born-Infeld and Plebanski cases, we find a “reverse Born-Infeld” case, which has a limit to Plebanski, and an “extreme-Born-Infeld” case ...

Seiberg-Witten curves with O7 ± -planes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We construct Seiberg-Witten curves for 5d N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 1 gauge theories whose Type IIB 5-brane configuration involves an O7-plane and discuss an intriguing relation between theories with an O7+-plane and those with an O7 − -plane and 8 D7-branes.

A comment on 4d and 5d BPS states

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We discuss a phenomenon in supersymmetric field theory and string theory whereby compactifying one of the dimensions of spacetime on an arbitrarily large circle can cause BPS states to become unstable. We exemplify this by considering 5d N $$ \mathcal{N}

Fibrations and Hasse diagrams for 6d SCFTs

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We study the full moduli space of vacua of 6d worldvolume SCFTs on M5 branes probing an A-type singularity, focusing on the geometric incarnation of the discrete gauging mechanism which acts as a discrete quotient on the Higgs branch fibered over the ...

Elliptic quantum curves of 6d SO(N) theories

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We discuss supersymmetric defects in 6d N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = (1, 0) SCFTs with SO(N c ) gauge group and N c − 8 fundamental flavors. The codimension 2 and 4 defects are engineered by coupling the 6d gauge fields to charged free fields in four and two ...

Deformation of N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 SYM with varying couplings via fluxes and intersecting branes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We study deformations of N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with space-time dependent couplings by embedding probe D3-branes in supergravity backgrounds with non-trivial fluxes.
