Effect of dietary vitamin C supplement on reproductive performance of aviary pheasants

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2005
The effects of three doses of vitamin C (100, 200 and 300 mg/kg) added to the feed of reproductive pheasants on egg production, egg fertility and parameters of hatchability were investigated.

A Computational Strategy for Identifying Self‐Assembling Food‐Derived Molecules for Antiparasitic Nanotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated computational screening strategy identified ursolic acid (UA) and 18β‐glycyrrhetinic acid (18βGA) as a self‐assembling food‐derived molecular pair. The resulting carrier‐free nanoparticles (UA‐18βGA) showed synergistic antiparasitic activity, reduced combined toxicity, and host‐protective anti‐inflammatory effects in zebrafish and murine ...

The effect of magnetic field on hatchability of Japanese quail eggs

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2006
The effect of environmental conditions on hatching indices of poultry eggs is sufficiently important that new methods for their improvement are sought, among others through exposing the eggs during hatching to an artificially generated magnetic field of ...

tBid‐Mediated Genetic Ablation of Connective Tissue Cells Reveals Their Key Regulatory Function During Limb Regeneration in Axolotls

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We establish a tBid‐mediated cell ablation system in axolotls, achieve rapid and efficient ablation of multiple cell types, including muscle stem cell, spinal cord cell, and connective tissue (CT) cells. We investigate the role of CT using tBid‐mediated CT ablation and identify its essential role for limb development and regeneration.

Buried Unstrained Germanium Channels: A Lattice‐Matched Platform for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Strained germanium (ε$\varepsilon$‐Ge) and strained silicon (ε$\varepsilon$‐Si) buried quantum wells have enabled advanced spin‐qubit quantum processors. However, in the absence of suitable lattice‐matched substrates, ε$\varepsilon$‐Ge and ε$\varepsilon$‐Si are deposited on defective, metamorphic SiGe buffers, which may impact device ...

Stage‐Specific H3K14 and H3K23 Succinylation Orchestrates Insect Metamorphosis and Oogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stage‐specific succinylation of histone H3 at lysine 14 and 23 differentially controls insect metamorphosis and oogenesis through distinct GPCR‐PKC signaling cascades, revealing an evolutionarily conserved epigenetic mechanism that coordinates key life‐history traits.

Weight and Hatchability of Turkey Eggs

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1938
Abstract EGGS from turkeys whose eggs averaged from 84–89 grams in weight, about the modal egg weight for the material reported, were reported by Marble and Margolf (1936) to have higher hatchability than eggs from females whose eggs averaged less than 84 or more than 89 grams.

Beyond Percolation: Graphene‐Enabled Network Reinforcement Enhances Thermal Transport in Paraffin Phase‐Change Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Expanded‐graphite/graphene‐nanoplatelet hybrids deliver a near‐order‐of‐magnitude thermal‐conductivity enhancement in paraffin phase‐change materials. A microCT‐informed 3D modeling framework resolves the percolating EG backbone and captures sub‐voxel GNP enrichment, quantitatively linking microstructure to heat flow and revealing a graphene‐enabled ...

Stem Cell Differentiation Disperses Transcriptional Clusters via a Conserved Surface‐Condensate Trajectory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation follows a conserved surface condensate trajectory: H3K27ac super enhancers nucleate large RNA polymerase II clusters that grow and unfold before transcriptional activity disperses them. This work reveals how biophysical forces at enhancer surfaces dynamically build and dismantle stem cell transcription hubs, reshaping cell ...

Egg Shell Color and Hatchability

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1951
Abstract SEVERAL research papers have been published recently with regard to the relationship between shell color and hatchability of chicken eggs. In general the conclusions have been that in certain breeds laying brown eggs the medium to dark brown shelled eggs hatched better than did eggs with light brown shell color (Godfrey, 1947; and Funk and ...
