Todorčević (Fund Math 150(1):55–66, 1996) shows that there is no Hausdorff gap (A, B) if A is analytic. In this note we extend the result by showing that the assertion “there is no Hausdorff gap (A, B) if A is coanalytic” is equivalent to “there is no Hausdorff gap (A, B) if A is Σ12 ”, and equivalent to ∀r (ℵ1L[r] < ℵ1) .

On Optimal Polyline Simplification using the Hausdorff and Fréchet Distance
International Symposium on Computational Geometry, 2018We revisit the classical polygonal line simplification problem and study it using the Hausdorff distance and Fr\'echet distance. Interestingly, no previous authors studied line simplification under these measures in its pure form, namely: for a given ...

Hausdorff Dimension, Projections, Intersections, and Besicovitch Sets
New Trends in Applied Harmonic Analysis, Volume 2, 2017This is a survey on recent developments on the Hausdorff dimension of projections and intersections for general subsets of Euclidean spaces, with an emphasis on estimates of the Hausdorff dimension of exceptional sets and on restricted projection ...

For a sequence of integers {a(x)}x≥1 we show that the distribution of the pair correlations of the fractional parts of {〈αa(x)〉}x≥1 is asymptotically Poissonian for almost all α if the additive energy of truncations of the sequence has a power savings ...
