Randomization with Asymmetric Information [PDF]

open access: yes
It is by now well-known that, in the presence of moral hazard or adverse selection, randomization of insurance premia and benefits may be Pareto efficient.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

An open-source simulation platform to support and foster research collaboration in natural hazards engineering

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment
Computational simulation is a critical tool for assessing the impacts of natural hazards and informing risk mitigation and resilience strategies. The NHERI SimCenter has developed an open-source, modular framework that integrates performance-based ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Seismic hazard assessment of Navarre (Northern Spain) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The RISNAV project, financed by the Civil Defence Department of Navarre (Northern Spain), aims at assessing seismic risk of the entire region. The final goal of the project is the definition of emergency plans for future earthquakes.

Modeling to COVID-19 and cancer data: Using the generalized Burr-Hatke model

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Research and Applied Sciences
This paper describes an extended version of the Burr–Hatke distribution via generalizing its survival function. This model is called as the generalized Burr-Hatke distribution. The suggested model's hazard rate function can be non-increasing (decreasing)

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Earth observation driven flood hazard and vulnerability assessment of industrial buildings in Assam using a probabilistic physics-based framework

open access: yesDiscover Geoscience
Rapid industrial expansion and increasing climate variability have intensified flood risks to industrial infrastructure across South and South-East Asia, necessitating integrated approaches that combine hazard characterization with vulnerability ...
