Comparison of ground motions estimated from prediction equations and from observed damage during the M = 4.6 1983 Liège earthquake (Belgium) [PDF]
On 8 November 1983 an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 damaged more than 16 000 buildings in the region of Liège (Belgium). The extraordinary damage produced by this earthquake, considering its moderate magnitude, is extremely well documented, giving the ...

A predictive model for household displacement duration after disasters
Abstract According to recent Household Pulse Survey data, roughly 1.1% of households were displaced due to disasters in the United States in recent years. Although most households returned relatively quickly, 20% were displaced for longer than 1 month, and 14% had not returned by the time of the survey.

Fire represents a relatively infrequent but potentially severe hazard for bridges, with collapse rates comparable to or exceeding those caused by seismic events. Despite this, fire risk is often neglected in bridge design and assessment, particularly for

Abstract We demonstrate the increased ability to forecast hurricane impacts with a coupled numerical modeling system by simulating ocean waves, water levels, currents, sediment transport, and structural damage to predict inundation, coastal morphological change, and residential building impacts.

Hazus-based seismic vulnerability functions for casualties as a function of SA10
Porter (2009) showed how to tabulate Hazus' seismic vulnerability functions for nonfatal injuries and deaths in terms of common, structure-independent, ground-motion measures. This file offers that tabulation.

Seismic vulnerability of Yazd [PDF]
Occurring earthquake in Iran plateau is common due to that Iran is on seismic belt and having a large number of faults. Studying of Yazd’s vulnerability in Iranian’s seismic code earthquake is the goal of this research.

Impact assessment of earthquake early warning systems in Central America
Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) systems aim to alert users in advance of imminent shaking, enabling them to take action. In collaboration with local seismic agencies, the Swiss Seismological Service (SED), has developed national EEW systems across Central America.
