Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (Hbsag) Decrease and Serum Interferon-Inducible Protein-10 Levels as Predictive Markers for Hbsag Loss during Treatment with Nucleoside/Nucleotide Analogues

open access: yes, 2011
Background Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) loss is the ultimate goal of antiviral therapy and its prediction may be important for treatment individualization.

Mean HBsAg decline at week 24 of PEG-IFN-based treatment predicts subsequent rate of HBsAg clearance: suggesting a valuable endpoint for early development HBV trials

open access: yes, 2021
Earlier identification of potentially efficacious treatments in early development trials requires on-treatment response markers. We hypothesized that mean week 12 or 24 HBsAg decline could be a useful marker for subsequent off-treatment sustained HBsAg ...

MiR‐375 in CAFs‐Derived EVs Promotes HCC Progression via Regulating RASA1 and May Potentially Serve as a Biomarker for HCC

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
CAFs could transfer EVs miR‐375 into endothelial cells with a low level of RASA1 and further promote EC angiogenesis. Plasma EVs miR‐375 have the potential values as a novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for HCC. ABSTRACT Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in the tumor microenvironment play an important role in cancer initiation and progression

Italian Patients Journey for Gene Therapy in Haemophilia A

open access: yesHaemophilia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Gene therapy (GT) provides sustained FVIII levels without repeated infusions in Hemophilia A (HA) patients thus overcoming a major limitation of replacement therapy. However, issues remain e.g., patient selection criteria, duration and variability of transgene expression, quality of life and long‐term safety.

Suppression of Indoleamine 2,3‐Dioxygenase Enhances Immune Responses to the Therapeutic Vaccine for Chronic Hepatitis B

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase (IDO) activity modulates immune responses to the therapeutic HBV vaccine NASVAC. Genetic or pharmacological suppression of IDO enhanced vaccine efficacy in mice, and lower serum kynurenine levels predicted favorable responses in humans, suggesting IDO as both a therapeutic target and a biomarker.

Loss of intrahepatic HBsAg expression predicts sustained response to peginterferon and is reflected by pronounced serum HBsAg decline

open access: yes, 2014
There is a lack of knowledge regarding the effect of peginterferon (PEG-IFN) on the expression of intrahepatic hepatitis B core and surface antigen (HBcAg and HBsAg) in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and its relation with response to therapy.

Toward a Synthetic Data Revolution: Diffusion Model‐Enhanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma Prediction in Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Steatotic liver disease (SLD) encompasses a heterogeneous spectrum with varying risks of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Limited sample sizes limit the development of predictive models, particularly for rare outcomes. This study evaluated whether generative artificial intelligence (AI)‐based synthetic data augmentation can enhance HCC risk

Long‐Acting Cabotegravir/Rilpivirine Reduces Immune‐Activation and ‐Senescence in People With HIV With CMV Co‐Infection

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
This study investigates the impact of switching to long‐acting (LA) injectable cabotegravir and rilpivirine (CAB/RPV‐LA) on immune‐activation and ‐senescence in people with HIV (PWH). Thirty‐seven PWH switching to CAB/RPV‐LA and nine continuing oral ART were analysed over 72 weeks. LA therapy led to significant reductions in activation T and senescence

"IL28B polymorphism in chronic HBV infection: the CC allele does not correlate with the phase of the infection nor with HBsAg clearance in IFN treated patients".

open access: yes, 2012
IL28B polymorphism (IL28Bp) is associated with spontaneous and treatment induced HCV clearance, whereas its role in HBV infection is still debated. We analysed the correlation between IL28Bp and phase and outcome of HBV infection and HBsAg clearance in ...
