Load Control for an HCCI Engine

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2005
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Homogeneous-Charge-Compression-Ignition (HCCI) engine operation in a vehicle drive cycle is a very dynamic process. In this paper, a controller is devised on the premise that the vehicle is operating under Drive-By-Wire so that the driver commands the engine torque output according to the perceived vehicle speed ...

HCCI combustion: Effect of NO in EGR

Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2007
Abstract Experiments were performed for the oxidation of mixtures of n-heptane and iso-octane and of n-heptane and toluene in a jet-stirred reactor (JSR) under dilute conditions, at 10 atm. The effect of the addition of variable initial NO concentration was also studied. A detailed kinetic model was performed to rationalize the results.

AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF BIOETHANOL HCCI

Combustion Science and Technology, 2005
ABSTRACT Bioethanol has been successfully used in conventional spark ignition (SI) internal combustion engines. Homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) combustion, a novel combustion method, has shown the potential for low nitric oxides (NOx) emissions with no particulate matter formation.

HCCI engine modelling for control

2023
To meet future environmental challenges and more stringent emISSIOn legislation, Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) has been proposed as a promising alternative to conventional combustion strategies. Heel engines offer thermal efficiencies comparable to those attained by high compression ratio diesel engines while maintaining the smoke free

HCCI-Combustion in the Z Engine

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2012
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">The most common car engine is a 4-cylinder 4-stroke engine. The car manufacturers have a great pressure to lower the cost of the cars and this deal also with the engines. The challenges are the coming new emission norms (for example EURO-6) and also the custom acceptance, because

Effect of Ethanol on the HCCI Combustion

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2007
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Bio-ethanol is one of the most promising alternative fuels for vehicles. It is important for the spread of bio-ethanol to investigate its ignition quality and its optimum combustion procedure. It is particularly important for the application of bio-ethanol to a homogeneous-charge compression ignition (HCCI) engine ...

Research Testbed for HCCI Engine

2015
Within the project Experimentally Supported Development of Advanced Internal Combustion Engine Models (ExDAM) a new engine testbed is designed. During a phase of the testbed conceptual design, it has been concluded that the existing eddy current dyno is inadequate for planned tasks, so decision was made to build a new testbed with the AC dyno.
