Input Visualizations to Track Health Data by Older Adults with Multiple Chronic Conditions

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Older adults living with multiple chronic conditions (MCC) can considerably benefit from collecting and reflecting on their health data. Many older adults collect their health data using various approaches, such as digital tools or handwritten notebooks.

Physically Based Neural BRDF: A Framework for Physically Correct Material Reconstruction, Generation and Editing

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We introduce the physically based neural BRDF, a novel continuous representation for material appearance based on neural fields. Our model accurately performs real‐world material reconstruction, generation and editing, while uniquely enhancing the physical accuracy of neural BRDFs via three key aspects: energy conservation, Helmholtz reciprocity and ...

Targeted, receptor‐mediated delivery of a masked d‐amino acid cell‐penetrating peptide for cell‐specific phototoxicity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
A targeted phototoxic peptide selectively accumulates in cells expressing chemokine‐like receptor 1 (CMKLR1). Phototoxicity of the native peptide is low, but cleavage by lysosomal protease cathepsin B releases a 6‐tetramethylrhodamine (TMR) labeled nona‐ᴅ‐arginine which mediates lysosomal rupture and cell death upon irradiation.

Neuroimaging biomarkers in migraine with aura mimicking stroke: A qualitative and quantitative analysis of perfusion CT alterations

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, EarlyView.
Plain Language Summary Migraine with aura can mimic a stroke, making diagnosis difficult and sometimes leading to unnecessary treatment in the acute setting. We found that some patients with migraine with aura show characteristic changes on brain perfusion CT scans, particularly in men and those with speech symptoms, which can be better detected using ...

Root surface biomodification in periodontal therapy: Biological rationale and clinical applications

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Regenerative periodontal therapy aims to form new cementum, periodontal ligament, and alveolar bone, all sealed by gingival tissue. The root surface acts as the wound margin during this regeneration process. Root surface biomodification (root conditioning/root decontamination), therefore, seems instrumental in promoting surface decontamination

Remittances, Human Capital, and Industrialization in Sub‐Saharan Africa

open access: yesReview of Development Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Industrialization remains a crucial strategy for structural transformation in Sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA), yet progress has been hindered by persistent constraints. This paper evaluates the effects of remittances and human capital on industrialization across 35 SSA countries over the period 2010–2021.

Human Capital and Economic Resilience to Economic and Health Shocks: Accounting for Regional Cycle Variations, Different Economic Dimensions and More Resilience Phases

open access: yesTijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie, EarlyView.
Abstract In a highly interconnected global landscape, where shocks can have far‐reaching spill‐over effects, the emphasis on enhancing resilience has naturally grown, capturing the interest of policymakers. This study examines regional (NUTS2) economic resilience over the Great Recession and the COVID‐19 pandemic.

Exploring the Role of Energy Consumption and Labour Productivity in Understanding the Effects of Climate Change on International Trade

open access: yesThe World Economy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Climate change can influence international trade through several mechanisms, including infrastructure damage, disruptions to energy systems and reductions in labour productivity. Recent evidence for the United States also suggests that energy consumption responses play a central role in transmitting the real effects of natural disasters. Using
