Highly Flexible and Conformable ZnO/FeGa Magnetoelectric Heterostructures for Skin wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The magnetic field‐induced electric field generated by a highly flexile ZnO(piezoelectric)/FeGa(magnetostrictive) magnetoelectric heterostructure embedded in the low Young's modulus elastomer PDMS has been used to stimulate the wound healing processes.

Insights into maternal pertussis vaccination counselling: a qualitative study on perspectives and experiences among midwives and gynaecologists in the Netherlands

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases
Background Healthcare professionals (HCPs) play a significant role in the decision-making process of pregnant women on maternal vaccinations. Whereas a high proportion of HCPs discuss maternal vaccinations with pregnant women, confidence in discussing ...

Site‐Specific Hydroxide Formation and Corrosion on Mg Nanocrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using single‐crystalline Mg nanocrystals, this study uncovers the intrinsic corrosion initiation mechanism. The stability of the protective Mg(OH)2 film depends on its interfacial coherence with the Mg substrate. Corrosion initiates at exposed corners, where film coverage is incomplete.

Premelting hcp to bcc Transition in Beryllium

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2017
Beryllium (Be) is an important material with wide applications ranging from aerospace components to X-ray equipments. Yet a precise understanding of its phase diagram remains elusive. We have investigated the phase stability of Be using a recently developed hybrid free energy computation method that accounts for anharmonic effects by invoking phonon ...

Hierarchical Twin Networks Enable Exceptional Strength and Fracture Toughness in Titanium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A commercial‐purity titanium with hierarchical ultrafine twin structures delivers an exceptional combination of fracture toughness (KJIc) of 187 MPa·m1/2 and specific yield strength of 140 MPa·cm3·g−1, in which pre‐engineered high‐density twin boundaries stimulate massive and dislocations to blunt crack tip.
