Tail Risk in Weather Derivatives

open access: yesCommodities
Weather derivative markets, particularly Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Heating Degree Day (HDD) and Cooling Degree Day (CDD) futures, face challenges from complex temperature dynamics and spatially heterogeneous co-extremes that standard Gaussian ...

O-hexadecyl-dextran entrapped berberine nanoparticles abrogate high glucose stress induced apoptosis in primary rat hepatocytes.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Nanotized phytochemicals are being explored by researchers for promoting their uptake and effectiveness at lower concentrations. In this study, O-hexadecyl-dextran entrapped berberine chloride nanoparticles (BC-HDD NPs) were prepared, and evaluated for ...

Dollars for Drops: Abatement Cost of Water for Irrigation in the Colorado River Basin

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, Volume 48, Issue 1, Page 278-293, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The Colorado River is a lifeline for more than 40 million people in the western United States. However, with climate change diminishing snowpacks in the Rocky Mountains and increasing demands from agriculture and urban areas, the river's flow has become insufficient to meet all the competing needs.

The impact of soil erosion on corn yields: A spatial regression analysis

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract This study examines the impact of soil erosion on corn (Zea mays L.) yield across counties in the US Midwest. Using a novel county‐level panel dataset that includes information on water erosion and corn yield, we analyze the direct and spatial spillover effects of erosion using a spatial regression framework.

Kinematics Analysis and Workspace Solution for the Heterogeneous Double-drive Universal Joint

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2019
A heterogeneous double driving universal joint (HDD-UJ) is proposed, which can realize the pitching motion and the rolling motion. The HDD-UJ uses a universal joint as the prototype of the mechanism, with the motor as the main drive source and the ...

Accurate Runout Measurement for HDD Spinning Motors and Disks

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2010
As hard disk drive (HDD) areal density increases, its track width becomes smaller and smaller and so is non-repeatable runout. HDD industry needs more accurate and better resolution runout measurements of spinning spindle motors and media platters in ...

Unexpected Evolutionary Divergence of Tachykinin‐Positive Neurons Innervating the Central Complex in Hexapods

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 534, Issue 3, March 2026.
The central complex is a group of midline‐spanning neuropils in the brain of insects with a key role in goal‐directed orientation and navigation. Immunolabeling in 25 species, ranging from bristletails to flies, shows that neurons containing peptides of the tachykinin family of neuropeptides are present in most species studied.

Application of RMR89–NATM Rock Mass Classification for Tunnel Design: A Case Study From Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, India

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
The Bilaspur region lies in a highly seismic zone, requiring special attention for infrastructure development like tunnel construction. Rock strength in the area is low, posing challenges for stable tunnel design. RMR values range from 21 to 30, categorizing the rock mass as Poor, requiring robust support measures.

Does Farmer Group Membership Improve Technology Adoption and Household Welfare? Evidence From Tanzania

open access: yesFood and Energy Security, Volume 15, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Previous studies have demonstrated that membership in farmer groups (MFGs) promotes the adoption of improved agricultural technologies, increases farm incomes, and alleviates poverty. However, these studies often neglect the variability in treatment effects, concentrating primarily on average treatment effects.
