Sperm DNA fragmentation index and high DNA stainability do not influence pregnancy success after intracytoplasmic sperm injection

open access: yesF&S Reports, 2020
Objective: To evaluate the ability of sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) and high DNA stainability (HDS) to influence the chance of achieving pregnancy in couples undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles.

Epstein-Barr virus lytic infection promotes activation of Toll-like receptor 8 innate immune response in systemic sclerosis monocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
BACKGROUND: Monocytes/macrophages are activated in several autoimmune diseases, including systemic sclerosis (scleroderma; SSc), with increased expression of interferon (IFN)-regulatory genes and inflammatory cytokines, suggesting dysregulation of the ...

Age-Related Immunoreactivity Profiles to Diverse Mycobacterial Antigens in BCG-Vaccinated Chinese Population

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Long-term immunoreactivity to mycobacterial antigens in Bovis Calmette-Guérin (BCG)-vaccinated population is not well investigated. Herein, 361 volunteer healthy donors (HDs) with neonatal BCG vaccination from Shanghai region (China) were enrolled.

Contribution of distinct homeodomain DNA binding specificities to Drosophila embryonic mesodermal cell-specific gene expression programs. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Homeodomain (HD) proteins are a large family of evolutionarily conserved transcription factors (TFs) having diverse developmental functions, often acting within the same cell types, yet many members of this family paradoxically recognize similar DNA ...

Type I Interferon Pathway Activation Disrupts Monocyte Maturation and Enhances Immune Evasion in Multiple Myeloma. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
This study shows that monocytes in multiple myeloma display an excessive interferon response, leading to transcriptional reprogramming and altered differentiation. Using single‐cell sequencing, coculture experiments, and patient samples before and after therapy, the authors demonstrate that induction treatment reduces this interferon response ...
