BREAKUP PHENOMENA IN NUCLEAR COLLISION PROCESSES WITH HE PROJECTILES

Reviews of Modern Physics, 1985
This paper reviews the experimental and theoretical studies of breakup processes induced by He projectiles. For this type of reaction knowledge of three-body kinematics is imperative; hence important aspects are summarized. Although some nuclear structure information has been studied with this type of reaction, the emphasis of this review is mainly on ...

Electron emission in slow collisions of He projectiles (He∗, He+, He++) with Li- and LiF-surfaces

Surface Science, 1996
We report the spectra of the electrons emitted in slow collisions of He+ (50 eV) and He++ (100 eV) ions with a Li covered W(110) surface and with LiF films grown on LiW(110). The preparation of the surfaces was made under in situ control of the metastable impact electron spectroscopy (MIES).

Excitation of He by highly charged fast projectiles

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1987
Abstract We have investigated excitation processes in He, induced in collisions with highly charged heavy ions. The projectile charge has been varied over a wide range from 6 1 − 45 at the specific energy of 1.4 MeV/u. The total excitation cross sections for optically forbidden transitions 1 1 S-n 1 S and n 1 D show qualitatively a ( q 2 -scaling ...

Electron capture by metastable projectiles on He and Ne

Physical Review A, 1984
Electron capture to n> or =2 levels of F/sup 7 +/ (1s2s) /sup 3/S projectiles lead to three-electron ions with an energetically allowed K-Auger decay channel. We have measured the F K-Auger emission spectra for collisions with thin gas targets of He and Ne with sufficiently high resolution to distinguish capture to several of the low-lying n values ...

Projectile scattering in double excitation of He by proton impact

Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 1995
We have studied excitation of the 1Se(2s2), 1Po(2s2p) and 1De(2p2) resonant states of helium by proton impact as a function of projectile scattering angle in the energy range 50-500 keV. Our results are compared with recent experimental measurements of Schulz and co-workers (1995).
