The Landauer Resistance and Band Spectra for the Counting Quantum Turing Machine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The generalized counting quantum Turing machine (GCQTM) is a machine which, for any N, enumerates the first $2^{N}$ integers in succession as binary strings. The generalization consists of associating a potential with read-1 steps only.

Upacicalcet: A Novel Intravenous Calcimimetic Agent for Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With Secondary Hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common complication in patients receiving maintenance dialysis, driven by calcium and phosphate metabolism disturbances. Calcimimetics are central to the management of SHPT by enhancing calcium‐sensing receptor sensitivity and reducing parathyroid hormone secretion.

A Review on Head-Related Transfer Function Generation for Spatial Audio

open access: yesApplied Sciences
A head-related transfer function (HRTF) is a mathematical model that describes the acoustic path between a sound source and a listener’s ear. Using binaural synthesis techniques, HRTFs play a crucial role in creating immersive audio experiences through ...

A Hybrid Algorithm for Predicting Median-Plane Head-Related Transfer Functions from Anthropometric Measurements

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Since head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) represent the interactions between sounds and physiological structures of listeners, anthropometric parameters represent a straightforward way to customize (or predict) individualized HRTFs.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Rudiments of spatial audio synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
For many application areas the binaural synthesis has become a field of interest. In this paper, we present the basics of bin- aural synthesis for 2 channels -left and right- providing exam- ples and figures, using different approaches: from just ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Listener Acoustic Personalization Challenge—LAP24: Head-Related Transfer Function Dataset Harmonization

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing
Big data analysis and collation for data-driven head-related transfer function (HRTF) personalization methods are often hindered by systematic differences between HRTF datasets. To address this issue, we designed Task 1 of the inaugural listener acoustic
