ROLE OF FETAL THIGH CIRCUMFERENCE IN ESTIMATION OF BIRTH WEIGHT BY ULTRASOUND [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the accuracy and usefulness of predicting birth weight by measuring fetal thigh circumference by ultrasound. METHODS: In 110 pregnant women, fetuses without structural or chromosomal anomalies were studied prospectively and cross ...

Decoding Human Placental Cellular and Molecular Responses to Obesity and Fetal Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Women with obesity often deliver large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants. Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of term placenta reveals that hypoxia and TNF‐α signaling in syncytiotrophoblasts are featured in maternal obesity, but inflammatory signatures in Hofbauer cells and response to lipid or carbohydrate metabolism in fibroblasts are specific to LGA.

Head circumference index in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders in comparison to intellectual disability and its relationship with cognitive factors [PDF]

open access: yesMajallah-i dānishgāh-i ̒ulūm-i pizishkī-i Arāk, 2015
Background: Head circumference (and its related morphologic factors such as head length and width) is one of the morphologic indices that people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) have different developmental patterns in comparison to their peers.

Proteogenomic Characterization Reveals Subtype‐Specific Therapeutic Potential for HER2‐Low Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multiomic profiling of HER2‐low breast cancer identifies three proteomic subtypes with distinct therapeutic strategies: endocrine, antiangiogenic, and anti‐HER2 therapies. Genomic and lactate modification landscapes are detailed, providing insights for precise management.

Validation and human factor analysis study of an infant weight estimation device

open access: yesBMC Pediatrics, 2020
Background Weight is critical for the medical management of infants; however, scales can be unavailable or inaccessible in some practice settings. We recently developed and validated a robust infant weight estimation method based on chest circumference ...

Functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to assess cognitive function in infants in rural Africa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Cortical mapping of cognitive function during infancy is poorly understood in low-income countries due to the lack of transportable neuroimaging methods. We have successfully piloted functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) as a neuroimaging tool in

Metabolic Reprogramming Driven by Trophoblasts and Decidual XCR1+PMN‐MDSC Crosstalk Controls Adverse Outcomes Associated With Advanced Maternal Age

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The interaction between trophoblasts and decidual polymorphonuclear myeloid‐derived suppressor cells (dPMN‐MDSCs) via the XCL1–XCR1 axis is crucial for fetal development during the third trimester. Disruption of this axis impairs FOXO1 activity and causes metabolic imbalance in dPMN‐MDSCs, contributing to adverse outcomes associated with advanced ...
