Investigation on risk prediction of pedestrian head injury by real-world accidents

open access: yesTransport, 2019
Head injury is the most common and fatal injury in car-pedestrian accidents. Due to the lack of human test data, real-world accident data is useful for the research on the mechanism and tolerance of head injuries.

Neonatal head injuries [PDF]

open access: yesEmergency Medicine Journal, 2000
A retrospective case note review of head injuries in neonates admitted to the Neonatal Surgical Unit in Glasgow between 1990 and 1996 (n=25) was carried out. Most injuries were caused by a fall (68%) and resulted in scalp haematomata and associated skull fractures in the majority of patients.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Realistic Reference for Evaluation of Vehicle Safety Focusing on Pedestrian Head Protection Observed From Kinematic Reconstruction of Real-World Collisions

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2021
Head-to-vehicle contact boundary condition and criteria and corresponding thresholds of head injuries are crucial in evaluation of vehicle safety performance for pedestrian protection, which need a constantly updated understanding of pedestrian head ...

Head Injury Analysis of Vehicle Occupant in Frontal Crash Simulation: Case Study of ITB's Formula SAE Race Car [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the present study, frontal crash simulations were conducted to determine the effect of various car speeds against the Head Injury Criterion (HIC), a measure of the likelihood of head injury arising from impact.

Behavioral Deficits and Axonal Injury Persistence after Rotational Head Injury Are Direction Dependent [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Pigs continue to grow in importance as a tool in neuroscience. However, behavioral tests that have been validated in the rodent model do not translate well to pigs because of their very different responses to behavioral stimuli.

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Skull Flexure from Blast Waves: A Mechanism for Brain Injury with Implications for Helmet Design

open access: yes, 2009
Traumatic brain injury [TBI] has become a signature injury of current military conflicts, with debilitating, costly, and long-lasting effects. Although mechanisms by which head impacts cause TBI have been well-researched, the mechanisms by which blasts ...
