A survey of head pose estimation methods

2020 International Conferences on Internet of Things (iThings) and IEEE Green Computing and Communications (GreenCom) and IEEE Cyber, Physical and Social Computing (CPSCom) and IEEE Smart Data (SmartData) and IEEE Congress on Cybermatics (Cybermatics), 2020
For computer systems head pose estimating is still a challenge. In this paper, we discuss the inherent difficulties of head pose estimation and describe the evolution of the field in recent years. We simply classify these methods and focus on the advantages and disadvantages of each method, including related articles in the past 10 years.

State Estimation with a Heading Constraint

2018 21st International Conference on Information Fusion (FUSION), 2018
Ahstract- The state estimation problem with a heading constraint, in which only the fixed heading of the target is prior known without any other information about the constraint, is investigated. This situation can be discovered in some practical applications, such as the tracking of a vehicle moving on a straight road.

Head pose estimation by regression algorithm

Pattern Recognition Letters, 2020
Abstract Head pose estimation is a very in-depth topic in the context of biometric recognition, especially in video surveillance, because the rotation of the head can affect the recognition of some features of the face. Being able to recognize in advance the pose of the head in pitch, yaw and roll enable frontalization or the extraction of a frame in

Head pose estimation for a domestic robot

Proceedings of the 6th international conference on Human-robot interaction, 2011
Gaze direction is an important communicative cue. In order to use this cue for human-robot interaction, software needs to be developed that enables the estimation of head pose. We began by designing an application that is able to make a good estimate of the head pose, and, contrary to earlier head pose estimation approaches, that works for non-optimal ...

Monocular Head Pose Estimation

2008
This work addresses the problem of human head pose estimation from single view images. 3D rigid head pose is estimated combining Active Appearance Models (AAM) with Pose from Orthography and Scaling with ITerations (POSIT). AAM shape landmarks are tracked over time and used in POSIT for pose estimation.
