Single view head pose estimation
2008 15th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2008This work addresses the problem of human head pose estimation from single view images. 3D rigid head pose is estimated combining Active Appearance Models(AAM) with Pose from Orthography and Scaling with ITerations(POSIT). AAM shape landmarks are tracked over time and used in POSIT for pose estimation.

In building proactive systems for interacting with users by analyzing and recognizing scenes and settings, an important task is to deal with people’s occupations: Not only do their locations or identities become important, but their looking direction and orientation are crucial cues to determine everybody’s intentions and actions.

Head Pose Estimation by Instance Parameterization
2014 22nd International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2014Head pose estimation from images is a challenging task with extensive applications. It has been attracting research attentions over decades and numerous approaches have been proposed. Among them, manifold embedding based methods, which assume that the pose variations lie on a low-dimensional manifold embedded in the high-dimensional feature space, have

Estimating heading during eye movements
Vision Research, 1994In eight experiments, we examined the ability to judge heading during tracking eye movements. To assess the use of retinal-image and extra-retinal information in this task, we compared heading judgments with executed as opposed to simulated eye movements. In general, judgments were much more accurate during executed eye movements.

Multi-camera head pose estimation
Machine Vision and Applications, 2012Estimating people’s head pose is an important problem, for which many solutions have been proposed. Most existing solutions are based on the use of a single camera and assume that the head is confined in a relatively small region of space. If we need to estimate unintrusively the head pose of persons in a large environment, however, we need to use ...

Benchmarking Head Pose Estimation in-the-Wild
2018Head pose estimation systems have quickly evolved from simple classifiers estimating a few yaw angles, to the most recent regression approaches that provide precise 3D face orientations in images acquired “in-the-wild”. Accurate evaluation of these algorithms is an open issue.

A new representation method of head images for head pose estimation
2009 16th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2009In this paper, a discriminative representation method of head images is proposed, which is based on parts and poses for identity-independent head pose estimation. Head images are preprocessed to enhance the facial features and eliminate the identity information by skin color model and Laplacian of Gaussian transform.

Head Detection by the Adaboost Algorithm for Head Pose Estimation
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013For human head pose analysis based on videos, pose is usually estimated on the head patch provided by a tracking module. However, head tracking is very sensitive to the large changes of pose. Therefore, this work locates the head patch in the videos by head detection.

On Head Pose Estimation in Face Recognition
2009We present a robust front-end pose classification/estimation procedure to be used in face recognition scenarios. A novel discriminative feature description that encodes underlying shape well and is insensitive to illumination and other common variations in facial appearance, such as skin color etc., is proposed.

Robust Heading Estimation in Mobile Phones
2019Nowadays, mobile phones are used more and more for purposes that have nothing to do with phone calls or simple data transfers. One example is indoor inertial navigation. Within this task, a central problem is to obtain a good estimation of the user heading, robust to magnetic interference and changes in the position of the mobile device with respect to
