The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Measuring income related inequality in health and health care: the partial concentration index with direct and indirect standardisation. [PDF]

open access: yes
The partial concentration index measures income related inequality in health (or health care) after removing the effects of standardising variables which affect health (or health care), are correlated with income but not amenable to policy.

Rural, regional and remote health: a guide to remoteness classifications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Foreword The development over the last decade of geographical classifications for Australia that describe areas in terms of relative remoteness has provided an opportunity to compare a wide range of health and welfare indicators across Australia’s ...

Validation of an English version of the Child-OIDP index, an oral health-related quality of life measure for children

open access: yes, 2006
Background: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Child-OIDP for use among children in the UK and report on the prevalence of oral impacts in a sample of schoolchildren in Westminster. Methods: Children aged 10 - 11 years in the final year of

Dynamics of Scots pine health after the release of Thanasimus formicarius in bark beetle foci

open access: yesНаукові праці Лісівничої академії наук України
In Eastern Polissia, a severe decline of Scots pine started in 2015. It was caused by drought and aggravated by outbreaks of Ips acuminatus (Gyllenhal, 1827) followed by Ips sexdentatus (Börner, 1776).

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Autoencoder-Based Missing Data Imputation for Enhanced Power Transformer Health Index Assessment

open access: yesEnergies
Data sparsity, particularly the partial loss of diagnostic data caused by sensor failures, transmission errors, or missed inspections, frequently occurs in practical power transformer operations and significantly degrades the accuracy and reliability of ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Exploring the role of intergenerational programs in promoting active aging: views and experiences of older adults in Sichuan Province

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Although existing research highlights the benefits of intergenerational interactions in enhancing social support and reducing isolation, limited studies have examined how such programs specifically contribute to the health and well-being of older adults.
