Optical characteristics of laser medical instrument with side-firing fiber under complete bevel angle range

open access: yesiScience
Summary: The side-firing instrument is studied under the complete bevel angle range. The fiber core and cladding are 0.6 mm and 0.66 mm, respectively, the fiber core refractive index is 1.457, and the fiber cladding refractive index is from 1.409 to 1 ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

How the colours we wear may affect our health [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Colour therapy is a vibrational medicine based on Einsteinian and Quantum Physics theories using colour vibrational energies to rebalance the body’s subtle energies to create states of holistic well-being.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Fashionitis: Can the colours we wear affect our health [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Colour therapy is a popular ancient healing art that makes use of colour vibrational energies to balance and harmonise the body’s subtle energies and physical organs in order to create a state of holistic well-being and good health.

Radiation in medicine: Origins, risks and aspirations. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The use of radiation in medicine is now pervasive and routine. From their crude beginnings 100 years ago, diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy have all evolved into advanced techniques, and are regarded as essential tools across ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
