Living Under Pressure: Suitable Areas for an Endangered Coastal Dolphin Overlap With Intense Human Activities

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 35, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Marine ecosystems, especially coastal ones, are experiencing increased pressure from human activities. The first step to develop effective and appropriate management strategies is to understand the underlying processes of species distribution.

Theta–Beta/Gamma Coupling Identifies Bothersome Tinnitus Induced by Thalamocortical Dysrhythmia

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2025.
The thalamocortical dysrhythmia (TCD) was observed in all patients with tinnitus, as evidenced by elevated PAC in the auditory cortex. Particularly, BT patients show characteristic theta–gamma PAC attenuation in the orbitofrontal cortex. ABSTRACT Background The phantom sound of tinnitus can be an extremely debilitating condition.

How Do Individually Ventilated Cages Affect the Welfare of Male BALB/c Mice? Comprehensive Assessment of Behavior, Metabolism, and Responses to Acute Painful Stimuli

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2025.
IVC housing conditions cause significant changes in behavioral patterns, metabolism, and nociceptive responses in mice. ABSTRACT Introduction Housing conditions, which have a major impact on the welfare of laboratory animals, are an important issue in experimental research.

Noninvasive brain stimulation as focal epilepsy treatment in the hospital, clinic, and home

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 10, Issue 3, Page 787-795, June 2025.
Abstract Objective Noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS) provides a treatment option for patients not eligible for surgical intervention or who seek low‐risk approaches and may be used in the hospital, clinic, and at home. Our objective is to summarize our single‐center experience with multiple NIBS approaches for the treatment of focal epilepsy ...

Empirically Integrating the Evidence for Different Predictive Coding Components Using Auditory False Perception

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 8, June 1, 2025.
This study integratively measured the independent components of the predictive coding system including priors, confidence, prediction errors (PEs) and perceptual inference. The results showed that subjects with higher confidence in priors are more likely to shape perception towards prior belief and are more sensitive to context‐driven PEs.
