Nucleotides as an Anti‐Aging Supplementation in Older Adults: A Randomized Controlled Trial (TALENTs study)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The TALENTs randomized controlled trial evaluates the potential of nucleotides supplementation as an anti‐aging intervention in older adults. After 19 weeks, nucleotides supplementation significantly reduces DNA methylation age, suggesting a delay in epigenetic aging, and improves insulin sensitivity without severe adverse events.

Piezoresistive Effect: A New Concept for Hearing Aids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An MXene/PVA sound sensor utilizing piezoresistive effects has been proposed with a detection limit of 60 dB and a frequency response of 20–4000 Hz, which is comparable to the performance of commercial hearing aids. By combining the sensor with machine learning, the accuracy rate of voiceprint recognition of wildlife conservation can reach up to 99 ...

Hearing Loss Detection from Facial Expressions in One-on-one Conversations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Individuals with impaired hearing experience difficulty in conversations, especially in noisy environments. This difficulty often manifests as a change in behavior and may be captured via facial expressions, such as the expression of discomfort or fatigue.

Small Extracellular Vesicles Orchestrate Cisplatin‐Induced Ototoxicity: Potential Biomarker and Targets Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cisplatin causes reactive oxygen species accumulation, leading to apoptosis and inflammation in cochlear hair cells. Small extracellular vesicles primarily derived from the damaged hair cells likely contribute to cisplatin‐induced ototoxicity, carrying a variety of microRNAs and proteins.

Advancing Hearing Assessment: An ASR-Based Frequency-Specific Speech Test for Diagnosing Presbycusis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Traditional audiometry often fails to fully characterize the functional impact of hearing loss on speech understanding, particularly supra-threshold deficits and frequency-specific perception challenges in conditions like presbycusis. This paper presents the development and simulated evaluation of a novel Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR)-based ...
