Vessel‐On‐A‐Chip Coupled Proteomics Reveal Pressure‐Overload‐Induced Vascular Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A vessel‐on‐a‐chip system is developed to replicate both physiological and pathological vessel cyclic stretches. Proteomic analysis reveals pressure‐overload‐induced vascular remodeling, including cellular response to mechanical cues, cellular oxidative stresses, ER stress, and ceramide biosynthesis activation in the vessel‐on‐a‐chip system, well ...

Advancements in Bio‐Integrated Flexible Electronics for Hemodynamic Monitoring in Cardiovascular Healthcare

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores the cutting‐edge development of bio‐integrated flexible electronics for real‐time hemodynamic monitoring in cardiovascular healthcare. It covers key physiological indicators, innovative sensing mechanisms, and materials considerations. This paper highlights the application of both invasive and non‐invasive devices in cardiovascular

Degenerated TAVR Within Degenerated Surgical Bioprosthetic Valve Treated With Second TAVR

open access: yesJACC: Case Reports, 2020
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement within a degenerated surgical bioprosthetic aortic valve is increasing in frequency. We present a rare case of a patient requiring a second TAVR placed within a previous placed degenerated transcatheter aortic valve,

Red Blood Cell‐Induced Bacterial Margination Improves Microbial Hemoadsorption on Engineered Cell‐Depleted Thrombi, Restoring Severe Bacteremia in Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A highly efficient extracorporeal device for treating bacteremia is developed by integrating microfluidic bacterial margination and engineered cell‐depleted thrombi strategically constructed in the device. The rodent models, severely infected with antibiotic‐resistant bacteria, recover from bacteremia after two subsequent extracorporeal blood ...

Deep phenotyping of cardiac function in heart transplant patients using cardiovascular systems models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Heart transplant patients are followed with periodic right heart catheterizations (RHCs) to identify post-transplant complications and guide treatment. Post-transplant positive outcomes are associated with a steady reduction of right ventricular and pulmonary arterial pressures, toward normal levels of right-side pressure (about 20mmHg) measured by RHC.

Regionalization of Cardiac Services and the Responsiveness of Treatment Choices [PDF]

open access: yes
Efforts to regionalize cardiac services can increase access costs for patients. This study is the first to quantify this trade off by estimating a demand model for surgery services that is used simulate the effect of centralization of cardiac services on
