Congenital Heart Diseases Detected by Prenatal Fetal Echocardiography and Associated Extracardiac Anomalies

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Research, 2019
Aim:The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between extracardiac abnormalities and congenital heart diseases in fetuses that were referred for fetal echocardiography due to a variety of reasons.Materials and Methods:A total of 1,158 ...

Giant cardiac hydatid cyst in the interventricular septum protruding to right ventricular epicardium

open access: yesIndian Heart Journal, 2013
Cardiac hydatid cyst is a rare condition, and the location of a hydatid cyst in the interventricular septum is exceptional. A 54-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with complaints of chest pain, shortness of breath and malaise.

Angiography‐guided mid/high septal implantation of ventricular leads in patients with congenital heart disease

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2021
Background Conduction system pacing prevents pacing‐induced cardiomyopathy, but it can be challenging to perform in patients with congenital heart disease (CHD), and mid/high septal lead implantation is an alternative.

Sudden Death and Left Ventricular Involvement in Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND: Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM) is an inherited heart muscle disorder characterized by myocardial fibrofatty replacement and an increased risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD).

Pulmonary Delivery of siRNA Anti‐TNFα‐loaded Lipid Nanoparticles for Rapid Recovery in Murine Acute Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In a murine model of acute lung injury, pulmonary administration of lipid nanoparticles carrying TNFα siRNA enables targeted delivery to immune cells. The study emphasises the importance of optimizing LNP distribution and delivery timing to improve therapeutic outcomes and develop emergency therapies for lung hyperinflammation.

Lipomatous hypertrophy of the atrial septum – a benign heart anomaly causing unexpected surgical problems: a case report

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2018
Background Lipomatous hypertrophy of the atrial septum (LHAS) is an anomaly of the heart. It is characterized by an infiltration of adipocytes into myocytes of the interatrial septum, sparing the fossa ovalis, which gives a characteristic hourglass ...

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy associated with severe left ventricular involvement in a cat. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
An 8-year-old, 4 kg, intact female, domestic shorthaired cat was referred for tachypnea and pleural effusion. A 24-h Holter recording showed numerous polymorphic ventricular premature complexes with left and right bundle branch block morphology ...

Measuring Zn Transference with Precision: Insights for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A modified Hittorf method reveals how co‐salt composition affects Zn2+ transference numbers. Coupled with molecular dynamics and spectroscopy, we shows that electrolytes with high Zn transference number (tZn) suppress dendrites, enabling longer high‐rate cycling and more stable Zn‐metal anodes.

Specialized impulse conduction pathway in the alligator heart

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Mammals and birds have a specialized cardiac atrioventricular conduction system enabling rapid activation of both ventricles. This system may have evolved together with high heart rates to support their endothermic state (warm-bloodedness) and is ...

Effects of anesthesia on conventional and speckle tracking echocardiographic parameters in a mouse model of pressure overload [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Genetically‑modified mice are widely applied in cardiovascular studies as model organisms. Echocardiography is a key tool for evaluating cardiac and hemodynamic functions in mice.
