Modeling the Behavior of Frost Growth on Finned Tube Heat Exchanger [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2014
A quasi-steady finite-volume model was developed for modeling a plain-finround-tube heat exchanger under frosted conditions. In this study, the heat and mass transfer characteristics of heat exchangers during frost formation process are analyzed ...

Unrolling of Syngonium podophyllum: Functional Anatomy, Morphology and Modelling of Its Peltate Leaves

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The unrolling of the peltate leaves in Syngonium podophyllum is analyzed and quantified (left‐hand side to center). These measurements serve to verify a mathematical model for leaf unrolling based on the model used in Schmidt (2007). An additional formula for obtaining a layer mismatch from a prescribed radius is derived.

Ensuring cost-effective heat exchanger network design for non-continuous processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The variation in stream conditions over time inevitably adds significant complexity to the task of integrating non-continuous processes. The Time Averaging Method (TAM), where stream conditions are simply averaged across the entire time cycle, leads to ...
