Impacts of Climate Change and Heat Stress on Farmworkers' Health: A Scoping Review
Due to the continuous rise of global temperatures and heatwaves worldwide as a result of climate change, concerns for the health and safety of working populations have increased.

Medical Evaluation for Exposure Extremes [PDF]
Exertional heat illness can be a serious consequence of sports or exercise in hot environments. Participants can possess intrinsic or face extrinsic risk factors that may increase their risk for heat-related illness. Knowledge of the physiology and pathology of heat illness, identification of risk factors, and strategies to combat heat accumulation ...

Climate change is related to an increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme events such as heatwaves. In insect pollinators, heat exposure is associated with direct physiological perturbations, and in several species, could lead to a decrease of ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Proteomic differences in seminal fluid of social insects whose sperm differ in heat tolerance
In the coming years, climate change is likely to increase the frequency and intensity of heatwaves. In many organisms, heat stress provokes physiological perturbations and can lead to decreased male fertility.

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

A DISORDER DUE TO EXPOSURE TO INTENSE HEAT [PDF]
Dr. David L. Edsall, of Philadelphia, has recently described 1 a group of cases characterized clinically by violent muscular spasms and excessive irritability of the muscles. Dr. Edsall says: These patients presented none of the conditions ordinarily recognized as due to heat; there were, indeed, no symptoms of any moment, aside from the extremely ...
