Experimental Study of Heat Flux Distribution of Arc Driven by AC Magnetic Field

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2011
The authors earlier developed a model to predict the heat flux distribution in an arc driven by an AC magnetic field. That theoretical model implied that the heat flux distribution depended on waveforms of the imposed AC magnetic field.

Air-Sea Heat Flux Variability in the Southeast Indian Ocean and Its Relation With Ningaloo Niño

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2019
Previous studies suggest that both air-sea heat flux anomalies and heat advection caused by an anomalous Leeuwin Current play an important role in modulating the sea surface temperature (SST) variability associated with the Ningaloo Niño.

Numerical Investigation of Heat Transfer in Garment Air Gap

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2020
This article aimed to study the characteristics and mechanisms of 3D heat transfer through clothing involving the air gap. A three-dimensional finite volume method is used to obtain the coupled conductive, convective, and radiative heat transfer in a ...

The sensitivity of parameterization schemes in thermodynamic modeling of the landfast sea ice in Prydz Bay, East Antarctica

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 2022
Based on the measurements conducted over the landfast sea ice in Prydz Bay, East Antarctica during the sea-ice growth season in 2016, various parameterization schemes in the high-resolution thermodynamic snow/ice model HIGHTSI are evaluated.

The importance of sub-meter-scale snow roughness on conductive heat flux of Arctic sea ice

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology
The conductive heat flux through the snow and ice is a critical component of the mass and energy budgets in the Arctic sea ice system. We use high horizontal resolution (3–15 cm) measurements of snow topography to explore the impacts of sub-meter-scale ...

Radial evolution of the solar wind electron heat flux in the inner heliosphere

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
The electron heat flux plays a important role in the expansion of the solar corona and solar wind. The electron heat flux of the solar wind is fully described by the electron velocity distribution function as it evolves with heliocentric distance.

Effect of thin-film sensors on local heat transfer in convective heat flux measurement

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2023
Thin-film heat flux sensors are usually attached to the interesting surface for the measurement of wall heat flux in the aerospace industry. However, the presence of the surface-mounted sensors may disturb the velocity and thermal boundary layer, alert ...

Calculation of in-situ steady-state heat flux on EAST lower divertor

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy
Heat flux is a key issue in tokamak devices. The non-uniform high heat flux on Plasma-Facing Components (PFCs) has led to local severe damage, including cracks and melting, in current tokamaks such as EAST and WEST.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
