Effective Heat of Combustion for Flaming Combustion of Mediterranean Forest Fuels

open access: yesFire Technology, 2010
An adapted bench-scale Mass Loss Calorimeter (MLC) device is proposed for evaluating effective heat of rapid flaming combustion of fine Mediterranean forest fuels. The MLC apparatus uses a calibrated thermopile to quantify heat release rate (HRR) as an alternative to the classical oxygen consumption measurement.

Heat of combustion and heat of formation of aluminum carbide

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards Section A: Physics and Chemistry, 1964
The heat of combustion of aluminum carbide (A14C3) in oxygen was measured by means of bomb calorimetry. The solid product of the combustion consisted of alpha aluminum oxide and another crystalline form of alumina, which was characterized as delta alumina. The heats of combustion were corrected for the formation of the delta aluminum oxide. The results,

Heat of combustion of borazine, B3N3H6

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards Section A: Physics and Chemistry, 1961
The heat of combustion of liquid borazine has been determined according to the following equation: B 3 N 3 H 6 ( liq ) + 15 / 4 O 2 ( g ) + 3 / 2 H 2 O ( liq ) = 3 H 3 BO 3 ( c ) + 3 / 2 N 2 ( g ) , Δ H ° ( 25 ° C ) = - 2313.3 ± 12.6 kj / mole ( - 552.90 ± 3.0 kcal / mole ) .

Investigation on the Heat-to-Power Generation Efficiency of Thermoelectric Generators (TEGs) by Harvesting Waste Heat from a Combustion Engine for Energy Storage

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, 2023
The present work explores a novel method of waste heat recovery (WHR) from the internal combustion (IC) engine and power generation using heat from hot exhaust gas (HEG) and thermoelectric generator (TEG). This system uses TEGs of aluminium oxide (Al2O3),

Effects of combustion on the near-wall turbulence and performance for supersonic hydrogen film cooling using large eddy simulation

open access: yesThe Physics of Fluids, 2023
Supersonic film cooling using fuel on board is an effective way to simultaneously shield the huge heat and momentum flux transported from the mainstream to the wall in a scramjet engine.

Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of the Heat of Combustion of RDX-based Propellants

open access: yesCentral European Journal of Energetic Materials, 2019
The main goal of the present work was to check whether it is possible to use a thermochemical model to predict the heat of combustion of new RDX-based propellants and to determine which calculation conditions ensure that the calculated heat obtained is ...
