Coupling hydrothermal liquefaction and aqueous phase reforming for integrated production of biocrude and renewable H2

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 69, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Lignin‐rich stream from lignocellulosic ethanol production was converted into biocrude by continuous hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) while hydrogen was produced by aqueous phase reforming (APR) of the HTL aqueous by‐product. The effects of Na2CO3 and NaOH were investigated both in terms of processability of the feedstock as well as yield and ...

Structural heat pipe [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
When solar heat is absorbed through the structural support member it is fed directly to a heat pipe. Energy is transferred by heat pipe around to a cooler spot before it can find its way to the structure.

Adsorption and Separation by Flexible MOFs

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) present significant potential for gas storage and separation due to their structural dynamic. This review explores the rationale behind the flexible MOFs' enhanced working capacity and separation factors. It also addresses key challenges, including phase transition kinetics, crystal robustness, cycling, shaping,

High‐Performance Recyclable Polyester Elastomers Through Transient Strain‐Stiffening

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transient strain‐crystallization simultaneously strengthens and toughens block polyester elastomers while conserving recyclability. Using controlled polymerization catalysis and commercial monomers, block polyester elastomers outperform current commercial elastomers, entering a new region of tensile mechanical property space.

Evaluation of the thermal and hydraulic performances of a very thin sintered copper flat heat pipe for 3D microsystem packages [PDF]

open access: yesDans Symposium on Design, Test, Integration and Packaging of MEMS/MOEMS - DTIP 2007, Stresa, lago Maggiore : Italie (2007), 2008
The reported research work presents numerical studies validated by experimental results of a flat micro heat pipe with sintered copper wick structure. The objectives of this project are to produce and demonstrate the efficiency of the passive cooling technology (heat pipe) integrated in a very thin electronic substrate that is a part of a ...

Synthesis and Photothermal Processing of Silicon‐Based Nanoconfined MXenes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Intercalation of titanium carbide (Ti3C2Tx) MXenes with aminopropyl terminated polydimethylsiloxane (amino‐PDMS) is demonstrated through ion‐exchange method followed by photonic curing (PC) using xenon flashlamp. The intercalation and PC result in enhanced interlayer spacing of Ti3C2Tx of 13.5 and 11 nm, respectively. Furthermore, conversion of PDMS to
