Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Analysis of heat generation and thermal lensing in erbium 3-µm lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The influence of energy-transfer upconversion (ETU) between neighboring ions in the upper and lower laser levels of erbium 3-µm continuous-wave lasers on heat generation and thermal lensing is investigated.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

METHOD OF MONITORING CHARGE CONDITION OF HEAT PUMP SYSTEM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A heat-pump circuit may include an indoor heat exchanger, an outdoor heat exchanger, a compressor adapted to circulate a working fluid between the indoor and outdoor heat exchangers, and an expansion device disposed between the indoor and outdoor heat ...

Spin-dependent pump current and noise in an adiabatic quantum pump based on domain walls in a magnetic nanowire

open access: yes, 2010
We study the pump current and noise properties in an adiabatically modulated magnetic nanowire with double domain walls (DW). The modulation is brought about by applying a slowly oscillating magnetic and electric fields with a controllable phase ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Stochastic pumping of heat: Approaching the Carnot efficiency

open access: yes, 2008
Random noise can generate a unidirectional heat current across asymmetric nano objects in the absence (or against) a temperature gradient. We present a minimal model for a molecular-level stochastic heat pump that may operate arbitrarily close to the ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Performance analysis of a secondary heat recovery solar-assisted heat pump drying system for mango

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation, 2019
An experimental investigation of solar-assisted heat pumpa drying mango has been conducted. A new solar-assisted heat pump drying system with a secondary heat recovery was setup, which can operate independently in solar drying mode and heat pump drying ...
