R134a flow boiling heat transfer in small diameter tubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Copyright @ 2007 RT Edwards Inc.Boiling heat transfer in small diameter tubes has been experimentally investigated using R134a as the working fluid. The heat transfer periments were conducted with two stainless steel tubes of internal diameter 4.26 mm ...

Vacuolar transport and function of Saccharomyces cerevisiae sterol ester hydrolase Tgl1

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tgl1, one of yeast sterol ester hydrolases, had been found on the lipid droplets where sterol esters are mainly stored. This study revealed that Tgl1 is transported into the vacuole depending on the ESCRT‐I–III complex, and that it exhibits intra‐vacuolar sterol ester hydrolase activity.

Rapid Transient Heat Transfer and Heat-Transfer Control.

open access: yesTEION KOGAKU (Journal of Cryogenics and Superconductivity Society of Japan), 1993
Rapid transient heat transfer of milli- or micro-second order has come to play an important role in advanced engineering, and the demand for active and direct control technology of heat transfer is growing. In this article, the recent needs for rapid transient heat transfer and its control are considered, and the conceptual differences between heat ...

The IQ‐compete assay for measuring mitochondrial protein import efficiencies in living yeast cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The efficiency of mitochondrial protein import depends on the properties of the newly synthesized precursor proteins. The Import and de‐Quenching Competition (IQ‐compete) assay is a novel method to monitor the import efficiency of different proteins by fluorescence in living yeast cells.

Preparation and characterization of an aluminum ammonium sulfate dodecahydrate-based composite phase change material with low supercooling and high thermal conductivity

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Aluminum ammonium sulfate dodecahydrate (AASD) is a promising hydrated salt-type phase change material. However, its application is severely hindered by its large undercooling and low thermal conductivity.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

An Experimental Study of the Vapor Temperature in the Reaction Zone for Producing Liquid from Camphor Wood in a Non-sweeping Gas Fixed-bed Pyrolysis Reactor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Technology, 2018
The liquids produced by the pyrolysis process with biomass as the raw material are popularly called bio-oil. The reaction zone temperature in the pyrolysis process affects the liquid yield in a non-sweeping gas fixed-bed reactor.
