Stability of Parallel Bubbly and Cavitating Flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This paper examines the bubble dynamic effects on the stability of parallel bubbly and cavitating flows of low void fraction. Inertial effects associated with the bubble response and energy dissipation due to the viscosity of the liquid, the heat ...

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

Experimental investigation on flow boiling heat transfer of R1233zd(E) in a variable width parallel microchannel

open access: yesZhileng xuebao
In this study, the subcooled flow boiling heat transfer of R1233zd(E) in uniform width microchannel and variable width parallel microchannel was experimentally investigated. The flow boiling curves, heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop of the two

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Experimental Investigation on Flow Boiling Heat Transfer of R1233zd(E) in Parallel Microchannel with Variable Width

open access: yesZhileng xuebao
The subcooled flow boiling heat transfer of R1233zd(E) in uniform- and variable-width parallel microchannels was investigated experimentally. The heat transfer characteristics of two channel structures were analyzed and compared under different ...

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

GAD65 Antibody ELISA With Extended Reportable Range: Validation and Guidance for Neurological Practice

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To (1) validate GAD65‐ELISA detection and quantification for type 1 diabetes mellitus and autoimmune neurological diagnoses, (2) correlate ELISA results (reference range < 5 IU/mL) with established radioimmunoprecipitation assay (RIA; ≤ 0.02 nmol/L), and (3) define ELISA clinical utility and pitfalls.

Propagation Regime of Iron Dust Flames [PDF]

open access: yes
A flame propagating through an iron-dust mixture can propagate in two asymptotic regimes. When the characteristic time of heat transfer between particles is much smaller than the characteristic time of particle combustion, the flame propagates in the ...
